Spanish fashion retailer Mango has launched Mango Stylist, an innovative virtual fashion assistant powered by generative AI. This cutting-edge tool is designed to provide personalized product recommendations, enhancing the online shopping experience for customers. The introduction of Mango Stylist is part of the brand’s broader strategy to integrate technology into its services, effectively merging traditional shopping experiences with AI-driven interactions.

Mango Stylist utilizes advanced algorithms to analyze individual user preferences and contextual information. Shoppers can engage with the assistant through Mango’s e-commerce platform and its Instagram account, receiving tailored suggestions for outfits and garment pairings. Currently, the feature is exclusively available for the Women’s collection and is accessible in nine regions, including Spain, Portugal, the UK, France, Italy, Germany, Austria, Turkey, and the US.

The development of Mango Stylist was a collaborative effort across various departments, including IT, Data, Digital Product, Styling, Design, Visual Merchandising, and Customer Service. This teamwork has resulted in a seamless integration with the existing after-sales virtual assistant, Iris, creating a unified conversational interface. This interface addresses customer inquiries both before and after purchases, from style inspiration to tracking order statuses.

Mango’s launch of this virtual assistant aligns with its 4E 2024-2026 Strategic Plan. Within the “Earn” pillar of this initiative, Mango seeks to drive value creation through technological advancements and operational excellence. Notably, the company has established over 15 internal platforms employing AI for various aspects of its operations, including pricing and product customization. The AI platform Lisa supports employee and partner use cases, while the Inspire platform aids design teams in creating new garments and visual merchandising strategies.

As the fashion industry increasingly embraces digital transformation, Mango’s commitment to integrating technology positions it at the forefront of the retail sector. With initiatives like Mango Stylist, the company not only aims to enhance the shopping experience but also aligns itself with the evolving expectations of consumers who seek personalized, efficient, and tech-savvy shopping solutions. This move reflects a significant shift in how fashion retailers approach customer engagement in an AI-driven marketplace, setting a potential benchmark for others in the industry.
