The upcoming 2025 SPESA Executive Conference is set to gather key players from across the sewn products supply chain, focusing on themes of resilience, sustainability, and future preparedness. Scheduled for August 27-29, 2025, this year’s event will take place at the Sofitel Chicago Magnificent Mile.

Kicking off the conference will be a fireside chat with renowned designer Maria Pinto, who will share her insights on “Design, Resilience & Building a Global Brand.” Pinto’s discussion will highlight her journey of merging artistic expression with sustainable practices.

Following her talk, a session titled “Circularity Reimagined – Building a Product Meant to Last” will feature Nancy Rhodes, co-founder and CEO of Alternew, alongside Mitch Gambert, CEO of Gambert Manufacturing. Together, they will explore how innovation and collaboration are enhancing garment durability and adding value for consumers.

The agenda features two sessions dedicated to “Making in America.” Robert McMillan from Dearborn Denim & Apparel will discuss “Building a Brand with Local Roots,” emphasizing the advantages of maintaining a localized supply chain. Julie Rader, sourcing director at Walmart, will present on the company’s collaboration with American Giant to promote U.S.-made t-shirts across the country.

Artificial intelligence’s impact on sourcing will also be a topic of discussion, with insights from Anthony Sardain, CEO and founder of Cavela, and Liam Howlett from Western Welder Outfitters. They will delve into how AI is reshaping sourcing strategies and improving supplier relationships.

Dr. Sheng Lu, an apparel studies professor at the University of Delaware, will analyze current tariff policies and their implications for sourcing and manufacturing strategies, supported by recent trade data and research findings.

Additionally, Sarah Krasley, founder of Shimmy Technologies and a member of the SPESA board, will present “The Skill of Adapting, Evolving, Transforming in the Face of Disruption,” providing a fresh perspective on resilience in the business landscape.

Miguel Montero of in2track Solutions will discuss succession planning in his session, “Rethinking Succession Planning: A Strategy for Continuity and Growth,” focusing on strategies to ensure business continuity and expansion.

Lenny Marano, president of the Americas at Lectra and SPESA board member, will lead a discussion on the role of automation in enhancing manufacturing efficiency, reducing costs, and increasing supply chain agility. This session will stress the necessity of collaboration between suppliers and manufacturers for fostering innovation.

The SPESA Executive Conference is an essential event for education and networking, offering members and stakeholders a chance to engage with the latest trends and challenges facing the global sewn products industry.
