Denim Deal, an international multi-stakeholder initiative uniting the global denim value chain, has announced a new partnership with United Repair Centre (URC), a social impact company specializing in high-quality apparel repair services. The collaboration gives Denim Deal members direct access to URC’s Europe-wide repair expertise, along with an exclusive member discount available to all initiative participants.
URC currently provides apparel repair services to some of the most recognized names in the industry, including Patagonia, The North Face, Arc’teryx, Lululemon, Levi’s, and Decathlon, giving the company considerable reach across the global apparel repair landscape.
Connecting Material Innovation with Garment Longevity
Denim Deal operates as a global platform working to scale post-consumer recycled cotton use and build circular denim operations through regional hubs spanning EMEA, North America, Latin America, Sub-India, and APAC. The initiative’s primary target is the production of one billion pairs of jeans containing at least 20 percent post-consumer recycled cotton by 2030, alongside broader commitments around transparency and durability.
Laura Vicaria, Denim Deal’s Program Director, spoke to the significance of the partnership in reinforcing the relationship between material innovation and garment longevity throughout the full product lifecycle. “Post-consumer recycled cotton becomes more credible when brands can see it, feel it and understand how to use it,” Vicaria said. “Durability connects the full product journey, from material choice and design to repair and future recycling.”
The partnership underscores the role that circular denim repair plays not just in extending the life of garments, but in validating the broader case for post-consumer recycled cotton within brand circularity strategies.
The Economic Case for Repair in Circular Fashion
The business argument for investing in denim sustainability through repair is increasingly difficult to ignore. A study by the Circular Fashion Federation found that the KPMG-assessed value of the “reinvent” segment for European first-hand apparel is expected to reach 71 billion euros — approximately $80.9 billion — by 2030.
Thami Schweichler, founder of URC, highlighted that execution quality is central to making circular fashion repair a credible and scalable element of brand strategy. “None of this would work without the highest-quality repairs, every time, exceptional service, and industry-leading technology,” Schweichler said, adding that investment in apparel repair also drives meaningful social change.
URC’s Growth and Social Impact
Since launching in Amsterdam in 2022, URC has completed over 100,000 repairs for more than 35 brands. As a certified B Corp, the company reports that its brand partnerships continue to grow steadily. URC employs over 50 repair technicians across its hubs in Amsterdam, London, and Paris. A notable proportion of its workforce includes individuals who previously worked as refugees and tailors in their home countries, reinforcing the company’s social impact mission alongside its circular fashion credentials.
Denim Deal Days Paris Brings Members Together
The partnership was announced at Denim Deal Days Paris, a one-day product-led working event co-organized with URC and the Circular Fashion Federation and hosted at URC’s central Paris hub. The event brought participating brands into direct contact with Denim Deal members including DNM, Indigo Textile, Kipas Denim, Soorty, Demco, Artlab, Thirty2, World Collective, and PLNTmatter.
The day’s programming featured an eco-design session as well as a hands-on Sashiko denim repair workshop, offering participants a practical, immersive look at the principles of circular denim repair in action.
