Pakistan and Bangladesh are preparing to deepen cooperation between their textile and garment industries through joint business-to-business activities and greater participation in industry exhibitions.
The Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) President Mohammad Hatem met with Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Imran Haider, at the BKMEA office in Dhaka on September 27. Several BKMEA directors were also present at the meeting, according to Pakistan’s Foreign Office press release.
MoU Implementation and B2B Cooperation
The discussions centered on implementing activities under the memorandum of understanding between BKMEA and the Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PHMA). As part of this effort, the two sides discussed organizing joint business meetings to connect companies from both countries and identify avenues for commercial cooperation — a move that reflects the growing intent to strengthen textile cooperation between the two nations.
The BKMEA president and Pakistan’s High Commissioner also reviewed broader efforts to deepen commercial relations, with Haider assuring the BKMEA leadership of Pakistan’s full support and cooperation in expanding bilateral trade and commercial collaboration.
Invitation to Dhaka Textile Exhibition in January 2027
During the meeting, Hatem extended a formal invitation to Pakistani companies to participate in an international textile, knitting, and garment industry exhibition scheduled for January 2027 in Dhaka. Participation in the exhibition is expected to provide Pakistani businesses a direct opportunity to engage with Bangladesh’s garment industry and explore supply-chain linkages.
The discussions come as both countries seek to strengthen industry-level linkages and identify opportunities for greater cooperation in the textile and apparel supply chains. The meeting signals continued momentum between the two sides in advancing their Pakistan-Bangladesh textile agenda under the existing bilateral framework.
