Heimtextil is expanding its engagement with the Middle East’s interior design and hospitality industries through a new collaboration with Downtown Design, the region’s leading design exhibition. The partnership marks Heimtextil’s first participation in the event, which takes place as part of Dubai Design Week.
From 4 to 8 November, Heimtextil will join forces with Milan-based design platform Alcova to showcase the Heimtextil Trends 27/28, titled The Performance of Everyday Living. The presentation will feature a curated combination of films, written content and visual displays, offering regional and international design professionals an overview of emerging trends shaping the future of interiors.
As a central event of Dubai Design Week, Downtown Design brings together leading regional and international names from the design industry. The Middle East’s expanding hospitality and interiors markets are gaining greater significance globally, supported by growing investments in hotels, commercial spaces and ambitious design projects. This development is creating new opportunities for innovative interior concepts, premium materials and advanced textile applications.
Through its collaboration with Downtown Design and Alcova, Heimtextil aims to connect its international trend expertise with the evolving requirements of this important regional market.
The presentation will place particular emphasis on the Heimtextil Trends 27/28, developed by Alcova under the theme The Performance of Everyday Living. The concept examines how interior spaces can deliver greater functionality while improving everyday comfort and maintaining strong aesthetic appeal. It explores the changing relationship between design, material performance and the practical demands of modern living, with relevance across residential, hospitality and commercial interiors.
Mette Degn-Christensen, Director of Downtown Design, highlighted the importance of bringing regional creative communities and international design expertise together.
“Downtown Design stands for connectivity, relevance and quality: it is where the Middle East’s creative community comes together with the global design industry. This exchange connects international perspectives with the specific needs and experiences of the region’s design professionals. Heimtextil and Alcova bring complementary strengths in materials and craft-led experimentation – topics that are particularly relevant to our community at present – and combine them with a clear understanding of the commercial realities behind successful design,” she said.
For Heimtextil, the collaboration represents another step towards developing stronger relationships with design professionals, hospitality businesses and industry stakeholders across the Middle East.
Olaf Schmidt, Vice President Textiles & Textile Technologies at Messe Frankfurt, said the region continues to generate significant inspiration and business opportunities for the global interiors industry.
“The Middle East is an important source of inspiration and momentum for interior design and hospitality. Dubai brings together an international design community, and in cooperation with Alcova, we are bringing our expertise in trends, materials and design to this audience. In doing so, we are taking Heimtextil’s themes beyond Frankfurt and connecting them with the perspectives of relevant partners in the Middle East,” he said.
The Dubai showcase reflects Heimtextil’s broader international outreach strategy, extending its trend insights and textile expertise to markets where hospitality investment and demand for innovative interior solutions continue to grow.
