The State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA), led by Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, has greenlit 25 new Odisha textile investment proposals totalling ₹4,739 crore (approximately $538 million). These initiatives, which span 13 key sectors, are forecasted to create over 25,000 jobs throughout the state.
Officials detailed that the Odisha textile investment proposals encompass various sectors, including textiles, steel, chemicals, information technology, infrastructure, logistics, renewable energy, tourism, downstream metals, the circular economy, cold storage, and capital goods. The developments will take place in several districts, such as Khurda, Jajpur, Cuttack, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Ganjam, Mayurbhanj, Angul, and Gajapati.
The textiles sector stands out as the most significant, with nine projects worth ₹1,684.87 crore ($191 million) expected to generate around 18,450 jobs in the coming years. Colortone Textiles Pvt Ltd and Aditi Lifestyle Pvt Ltd have proposed substantial facilities in Khurda, aiming to establish an integrated textile facility and a unit for knitted fabrics and garments with investments of ₹700.29 crore ($79.5 million) and ₹209.36 crore ($23.76 million), respectively.
Additional investments will be made by Techno Activewear Pvt Ltd, SCM Garments Pvt Ltd, Carloo Tex Pvt Ltd, and Wovinova Pvt Ltd, which are planning to develop units in Cuttack that focus on sportswear, large-scale knitted garments, ready-made apparel, and non-woven healthcare consumables, with a total investment exceeding ₹367.53 crore ($41.72 million).
Hindalco Industries Ltd is set to open two apparel units in Keonjhar and Sambalpur, with each requiring an outlay of ₹100 crore ($11.35 million). Meanwhile, Perfect Infra Vision Pvt Ltd plans to establish a textile and related products facility in Balangir with an investment of ₹110.7 crore ($12.56 million), and Piu Fashion Pvt Ltd will launch a garments unit in the Khurda Industrial Area, investing ₹96.99 crore ($11.01 million).
Officials indicated that these approvals signify a substantial advance for Odisha’s textile and apparel sector, which is well-positioned to become a vital player in job creation and industrial development within the state.
