Worldly, a platform dedicated to supply chain intelligence, has significantly expanded its Product Impact Calculator, which now includes over 260 product categories across diverse consumer goods sectors. This enhancement marks a major increase from its original focus of 40 apparel categories.
The revised platform allows multi-category brands and retailers to evaluate their carbon footprints and Scope 3 emissions utilizing primary data for products ranging from sporting goods to home essentials. This expansion is designed to aid businesses in adhering to global requirements for emissions reporting.
The Product Impact Calculator integrates data about materials, suppliers, and finished products into a cohesive system. This comprehensive approach enables organizations to pinpoint where emissions are concentrated, model various decarbonization scenarios, and set priorities for positive change.
By relying on primary data from materials and suppliers, Worldly’s methodology provides more accurate calculations at scale, distinguishing itself from spend-based models and traditional life cycle assessments. Since its introduction, the Product Impact Calculator expansion has been leveraged by brands to analyze Scope 3 emissions for over 400,000 products.
This innovative system offers a unified view of materials and finished products in the supply chain, helping companies identify where environmental impacts occur and how they accumulate at different production stages. The connectivity of this data provides organizations with insights into supply chain impacts unavailable through other market tools.
The Product Impact Calculator expansion is also integrated into Worldly’s broader data infrastructure, which includes Cascale’s Higg Materials Sustainability Index, Higg Product Module, and Higg Facility Environmental Module. This ensures that data flows seamlessly from suppliers to final product impact assessments.
The latest update further refines the tool by incorporating category-specific packaging requirements, variations in assembly processes, and real-world usage behaviors like washing or charging frequencies.
New footwear models have been added that comply with the European Commission’s Product Environmental Footprint Category Rules (PEFCR), aiding brands in preparation for regulations such as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and Digital Product Passport (DPP).
Additionally, the tool produces scores and labels necessary for France’s Environmental Cost labeling system, facilitating compliance with various corporate and product-level reporting frameworks.
Scott Raskin, CEO of Worldly, stated: “Scope 3 used to be a guessing game. With this expansion, brands no longer have to choose between speed and accuracy—they can have both. The Product Impact Calculator gives companies the clarity they need to design better products, run smarter supply chains, report more accurately, and move forward strategically and responsibly.”
