AI Summary

The Freeride World Tour (FWT) Qualifier event, held in Hemu, China, brought together skilled athletes to tackle the rugged terrain of the Altai Mountains. Known for its steep descents, snow-covered slopes, and unpredictable weather, the event put the participants’ endurance and abilities to the ultimate test.

Global innovation leader 3M played a key role in supporting the event by providing advanced insulation and fabric technologies to ensure athletes remained comfortable in such extreme conditions. The company’s contribution included specialized vests featuringĀ 3Mā„¢ Thinsulateā„¢ Anti-Static Insulation (Type AS)Ā andĀ 3M Scotchgardā„¢ Protector—both designed for peak performance in cold, harsh environments.

The Thinsulate Anti-Static Insulation helped athletes stay warm by effectively trapping body heat, an essential feature for extreme cold temperatures. It also reduced static electricity buildup, a common issue in dry, cold climates. What’s more, 30% of the insulation’s fibers were made from recycled post-consumer plastic bottles, adding an eco-conscious element to the gear.

Additionally, 3M Scotchgard Protector improved the vests’ fabric by adding water-repellent and stain-resistant properties. This helped athletes stay dry and comfortable in wet, snowy conditions while maintaining the fabric’s softness and breathability—crucial for demanding outdoor activities.

Participants also receivedĀ 3M ski hatsĀ designed with Thinsulate-brand technology to provide warmth without unnecessary bulk. Lightweight, breathable, and ideal for high-intensity activities, the hats ensured the athletes remained focused on their performance without compromising comfort or mobility.

Melissa Blakely, global portfolio director for Thinsulate Brand, expressed her excitement about the collaboration. ā€œWe were thrilled to partner with the Freeride World Tour and support these incredible athletes,ā€ she said. ā€œOur 3M Thinsulate Insulation and Scotchgard Protector technologies are specifically designed to keep athletes warm, dry, and comfortable, no matter how extreme the winter conditions. We’re proud to help these athletes achieve their goals.ā€

3M’s involvement in the Freeride World Tour Qualifier highlights the company’s commitment to innovation and sustainability in performance wear. Through their cutting-edge technologies, 3M continues to empower outdoor athletes to push boundaries and perform their best, even in the most challenging environments.
