Spanish fast-fashion company Mango is the first brand to collaborate with Swedish circular material company Circulose. Circulose since its relaunch, as the retailer seeks to integrate the next-gen material into its supply chain.
This collaboration marks a significant step in Mango’s mission to focus on sustainable practice. The collaboration also aligns with its long-term goal of moving towards a circular production strategy to reduce its overall environmental impact.
The circular fashion shift will now start incorporating Circulose pulp fibers. Circulose pulp fibers are made from recycled cotton waste treated through a chemical recycling process, from its collections. This further provides complete transparency and traceability.
This collaboration marks a step on our sustainability roadmap as we strive to exclusively use fibers with lower environmental impact by 2030 and reflects our commitment to fostering a more circular and responsible fashion ecosystem, where innovation and environmental stewardship go hand in hand,” said Andrés Fernández, Mango’s sustainability and sourcing director, in a statement.
We are excited to lead the way in transforming the fashion landscape and inspiring others to join us. After launching Re-Viste in Spain to assist consumers in giving their garments a second life, we are now committed to advancing recycling through our partnership with Circulose.
Circulose is a regenerated fiber derived from cotton-rich waste textiles that can serve as an alternative to virgin materials like wood pulp or cotton for more circular fashion production. Having the same quality, such as design and quality properties, Circulos is a ‘dissolving pulp’ which can yield regenerated fibers like viscose, lyocell, modal, and acetate. These fibers are then spun into yarns, converted into fabrics, and finally designed into new, high-quality clothes, completing the loop with accuracy and intention.
We’re proud to welcome Mango as a Circularity Scaling Partner and inspired by the brand’s bold ambitions,” said Jonatan Janmark, CEO of Circulose, in a statement. “As part of our new strategy to deliver a full circularity solution with expanded services for committed brands, we’re excited to work closely with Mango to efficiently integrate Circulose at scale into its supply chain.
Mango’s new partnership with Circulose is part of the company’s broader sustainability strategy for 2030; the goals include supporting innovation, a circular fashion shift toward lower-impact materials, advancing circularity within the textile industry, decarbonizing supply chains, and safeguarding worker wellbeing throughout the value chain.
Mango has integrated sustainable fibers and responsible manufacturing into its value proposition, which has a strategic vision based on circular design. Previous to its sustainability strategic platform, the circular fashion shift emphasizes low-impact materials, minimizing waste through reusable patterns, and production will focus on design longevity whilst remaining recyclable.
In 2024, Mango launched regenerative cotton via a partnership with Materra, and by year-end, almost 30 percent of its range adhered to circular design. Mango co-founded the Association for Textile and Footwear Waste Management as well, which placed Spain at the vanguard of circular textile waste management. Under the name Re-Viste, the initiative began trialing textile recycling models in six Spanish municipalities.
