Recover, a materials science company, and global manufacturer Intradeco have formed a strategic joint venture to expand the production of Recover’s recycled cotton fiber in Central America.
Recover, a leader in sustainable recycled cotton and blends, has partnered with Intradeco to establish a joint venture strategically based in El Salvador. This collaboration aims to support Central America’s textile industry by providing a faster and more adaptable supply chain while addressing the increasing demand for nearshoring and environmentally sustainable production.
The initiative marks a significant step towards creating circular textile systems and closed-loop manufacturing processes. Positioned within the Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA) region, the facility will leverage local textile waste and production streams to minimize environmental impact and lower operational costs. This move also aligns with global brands’ shifts toward regional manufacturing amid trade disputes.
Recover CEO Anders Sjöblom expressed enthusiasm, stating: “We are thrilled to partner with Intradeco to bring our sustainable textile solutions to the Americas and address the increasing demand for nearshoring in the region. This joint venture is another step in our journey to enable large-scale sustainable change in fashion through business value and inspiration. Together, we aim to support changed trade patterns and drive innovation and sustainability in the textile industry.”
The venture also seeks to help U.S.-based apparel producers comply with the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA), promoting ethical sourcing standards.
Until the completion of the El Salvador facility in 2025, initial shredding activities will be managed at Recover’s facility in Spain. Recover continues to expand its global operations, which already include facilities in Spain, Bangladesh, Vietnam, and Pakistan, offering low-impact, high-quality recycled cotton fibers to brands and retailers worldwide.
Intradeco CEO Jaime Miguel highlighted the partnership’s importance, saying: “Intradeco is excited to partner with Recover to enhance our production capabilities and deliver high-quality, recycled products at scale to our customers. This partnership represents a significant step forward in our commitment to sustainability.”
By combining Recover’s expertise in recycled cotton technology with Intradeco’s extensive manufacturing capabilities, the joint venture is set to drive sustainable change in the fashion industry, fostering innovation and meeting global demands for eco-friendly textile solutions.
