Davide Maccabruni, the Chief Executive Officer of Uster Technologies AG, has been appointed as the new president of the Swiss Textile Machinery Association (Swissmem). This announcement followed the association’s recent general assembly on May 8, 2025, where strategic leadership changes were made to guide the organization into the future. The Swiss Textile Machinery Association represents Switzerland’s leading providers in textile equipment, systems, and services.
Maccabruni emphasized the resilience and strengths of the Swiss textile machinery sector and stressed the importance of cohesion, alignment, and mutual support to maintain its global competitiveness. He succeeds Ernesto Maurer, who served as president for a decade and played a pivotal role in bolstering the association’s innovation and international visibility. Maurer has been affiliated with the association’s board since 2011.
The association also welcomed Martin Zürcher of Heberlein Technology AG as a new member of its board. Zürcher joins an esteemed group of leaders, including vice-president Ralph von Arx of Retech AG and representatives from companies such as Benninger AG, Autefa Solutions Switzerland AG, and Jakob Müller AG.
Founded in 1940, the Swiss Textile Machinery Association is the oldest industry sector within Swissmem, uniting 42 companies involved in textile machinery, components, and services. The association actively promotes innovation, education, and collaborative market access campaigns. Its international symposia program has highlighted Swiss expertise globally, with recent events in Mexico, the United States, and an upcoming symposium in Morocco.
Under Maccabruni’s leadership, the association aims to continue fostering innovation and collaboration to secure a prosperous future for the Swiss textile machinery industry.
