The Ellen MacArthur Foundation has officially entered into a strategic collaboration with AMCIRC, joining the organization as an Insights Partner. This newly established participation category is designed for select multistakeholder groups and non-governmental organizations to foster shared objectives in circularity. Through this Circular Textile Partnership, both entities aim to progress circular textiles and comprehensive textile systems within North America and on a global scale.
Collaborative Efforts for Industry Policy and Insights
The collaboration will involve the Ellen MacArthur Foundation participating in AMCIRC membership meetings, events, and various programmed activities. This relationship facilitates the exchange of information, insights, and ideas to bolster their respective initiatives regarding the circular economy and textile policy.
Expertise in Global Textile Strategy
Rachel Kibbe, founder and CEO of American Circular Textiles, expressed appreciation for the inclusion of the foundation’s global perspective. She noted that their research and systems-level thinking on circularity have influenced the field for more than ten years, and she looks forward to developing practical methods to advance US textile policy together.
As a global charity established in 2010, the Ellen MacArthur Foundation focuses on accelerating the transition to a circular economy. The organization works to eliminate waste, maintain materials in use, and regenerate natural environments to create resilient systems. Their strategic ambition includes achieving systemic change across fashion and textiles by 2030.
Danielle Holly, Executive Lead North America for the foundation, stated that the organization is pleased to formally join AMCIRC as an Insights Partner. She highlighted that AMCIRC’s efforts to educate stakeholders and improve the conditions that enable circularity are essential to the field, supporting the drive for circular textiles at a national level.
Strengthening Domestic and Global Competitiveness
AMCIRC functions as a convenor for stakeholders across various sectors, including retail, resale, recycling, repair, manufacturing, and technology. The organization works to support the growth of domestic textile systems and enhance competitiveness within the evolving global textile economy. This Circular Textile Partnership underscores the commitment of both organizations to advancing a sustainable framework for the industry.
