Piana Technology, a 442-year-old textile company from Italy, has reached a significant milestone in sustainability by achieving net-zero energy consumption at its Nonwovens facility in Cartersville, Georgia. This accomplishment was made possible through the expansion of its solar panel system, which now generates over 1.24 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. This output not only offsets the facility’s energy needs but also prevents 920 tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year—the equivalent of the carbon absorption provided by 250 acres of forest.

The facility also contributes surplus solar energy back to the local power grid, supporting the city’s electricity supply. This achievement is part of Piana Technology’s larger commitment to sustainability and serves as a shining example for other manufacturers aiming to reduce their environmental impact.

“This is an exciting milestone for our ongoing sustainability goals, and it will set a new high bar for all of our manufacturing facilities,” said Andrea Piana, CEO of Piana Technology. “This is the future. You can do it better and do it greener.”
