AI Summary

The current cotton season in Pakistan has commenced with significant momentum, as evidenced by a substantial increase in crop arrivals at processing centers. Data provided by the Pakistan Cotton Ginners’ Association (PCGA) reveals that total arrivals reached 527,900 bales by July 15, 2026. This figure represents a 77.3 percent climb compared to the 297,751 bales recorded during the corresponding timeframe in the previous year. This latest Pakistan cotton arrival report underscores a robust start to the harvest cycle, indicating high activity levels for both growers and manufacturers.

Heightened Activity Across Textile Industry Supply Chains

The uptick in Pakistan cotton production has spurred heightened activity within the manufacturing sector. Of the total volume received, 445,779 bales have been traded. Local textile mills accounted for the majority of these transactions, securing 444,379 bales to stabilize the textile industry supply. In contrast, exporters and private traders acquired 1,400 bales. The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) has not engaged in any procurement activities during this initial phase. Currently, 466,925 bales have been processed, while 60,975 bales are awaiting processing, an increase from the 36,892 bales pending at this stage last year.

Regional Breakdown of Crop Contributions

Regional performance indicates that Sindh remains the primary driver of early-season volume. The province reported 326,403 bales, more than doubling its previous year’s output of 152,650 bales—a growth of 113.82 percent. Punjab also demonstrated positive trends, with arrivals rising by 38.87 percent to reach 201,497 bales compared to 145,101 bales a year earlier.

Analysis of the PCGA cotton data highlights district-level performance:

  • Sanghar maintained its position as the leading contributor, delivering 280,393 bales, a 115.63 percent increase.
  • In Punjab, Vehari and Dera Ghazi Khan contributed 41,367 and 36,340 bales, respectively.
  • Bahawalpur and Layyah saw their figures more than double over the previous year.
  • Conversely, Rajanpur experienced a 14.29 percent decline, and Muzaffar Garh reported no arrivals during this period.

Operational Status of Cotton Ginning Factories

Operational data shows that 218 cotton ginning factories are currently active across the country, with 111 located in Punjab and 107 in Sindh. Despite the brisk pace of purchasing by domestic mills, the higher volume of arrivals has led to an increase in unsold inventory. Current unsold stocks are positioned at 82,121 bales, up from 47,771 bales last year. This Pakistan cotton arrival report, supported by the latest PCGA cotton data, confirms that Pakistan cotton production is currently outpacing previous records, ensuring that more cotton ginning factories remain engaged to meet the textile industry supply requirements.
