AI Summary

In the latest Fashion Report published by MediaVision, the state of the UK fashion market has been revealed for January to April 2025, showcasing significant shifts in consumer preferences and brand performances.

Leading the pack is Next, maintaining its stronghold as the top brand with a 10.8% share of search demand. It is followed by TK Maxx and Primark, with shares of 6.25% and 6.15%, respectively. Notably, ASOS has climbed to the fourth position, capturing 4.63% of search demand, overtaking JD Williams.

The report also highlights concerning trends for several brands, particularly Boohoo, which suffered a staggering 35% decline in demand. Other brands facing challenges include Matalan (down 22%), JD Sports (declining 21%), TK Maxx (dropping 16%), and ASOS (reduced by 12%). These figures suggest that increased competition and shifting consumer demands are pushing brands to reassess their marketing strategies.

Social media trends are significantly influencing consumer interest, with rising popularity for gothic fashion and running shoes. Among key trends highlighted in the report, products such as polka dot dresses (+417%), women’s bags (+55%), and denim dresses (+30%) have gained remarkable traction.

The report emphasizes that consumers are increasingly making choices based on value, convenience, and accessibility, underscoring a shift in buying behavior amidst ongoing economic pressures.

Next’s dominance is attributed to its strategic evolution, transitioning from a traditional high street retailer to a comprehensive online marketplace. This shift has allowed Next to partner with over 1,000 third-party brands, enhancing its customer reach.

Meanwhile, Primark’s rise in search share aligns with its investments in click & collect services and collaborations, helping it to narrow the gap with its competitors.

As the competitive landscape continues to evolve, brands must adapt to the changing signals of the market to maintain relevance and capture consumer attention effectively.
