Supply chain partners holding OEKO-TEX ORGANIC COTTON certified cotton are now active in more than 20 countries, marking a substantial widening of the certification’s geographic footprint. What makes this development particularly notable is not just the reach itself, but the sheer volume of OEKO-TEX organic cotton now moving through verified channels — already surpassing 33 million kilograms at ginning level.
Certificate Numbers Tell a Strong Story
The volume growth is accompanied by an equally telling rise in certification numbers. Certificates issued under the OEKO-TEX organic cotton programme increased by more than 200 per cent compared to the previous year. A key contributor to this shift has been the partnership with TextileGenesis, which is actively driving the digitalisation of transactions for OEKO-TEX organic cotton. The collaboration makes processes more secure, more data-driven, and considerably more scalable. The platform’s token-based technology reduces administrative burdens for customers across the supply chain while simultaneously strengthening confidence in their sustainability claims — a combination that is becoming increasingly valued across the industry.
OEKO-TEX MADE IN GREEN Sees Double-Digit Demand Growth
The trend towards traceability is equally visible beyond organic cotton certification alone. Demand for the OEKO-TEX MADE IN GREEN product label — which provides consumers with verified supply chain data — grew by more than 13 per cent over the same period. This growth comes at a particularly relevant time, as regulatory requirements around transparency are tightening on multiple fronts.
From 27 September 2026, the EU Directive on Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition, formally known as EmpCo (EU 2024/825), will require that sustainability labels used in consumer-facing communications be grounded in certification schemes whose requirements are independently verified by third parties. OEKO-TEX MADE IN GREEN and all other OEKO-TEX certificates and product labels are confirmed to remain legally compliant beyond that date.

Dr. Alfred J.
