AI Summary

Uzbekistan is strategically intensifying its focus on the Middle East market, with its vibrant textile and apparel industry poised for significant growth through a pivotal new partnership. This move aligns with the nation’s broader objectives to enhance its global footprint and elevate its position as a key supplier of high-quality textile products. The collaboration with TEXMAS, the influential Textile Merchants’ Group in the UAE, marks a significant step in realizing this ambitious Uzbekistan Textile Market Expansion.

Strategic TEXMAS Partnership Fuels Middle East Market Entry

The concerted effort to penetrate the Middle East market is spearheaded by a strategic cooperation initiative involving Uzbekistan’s textile and apparel sector and TEXMAS, Dubai’s prominent textile trade association. Recent discussions in Abu Dhabi between Uzbek diplomats and Jagdish Amarnani, Chairman of TEXMAS, underscore a mutual commitment to deepen bilateral cooperation in textiles and garments. This partnership aims to substantially increase the textile export of Uzbek-made products into the UAE and surrounding Middle Eastern countries. TEXMAS, established in 1990, represents over 460 textile and garment companies, playing a crucial role in positioning Dubai as a major global textile trading hub. A key outcome of these engagements includes providing Uzbek textile manufacturers with commercial space within Dubai Textile City, a dedicated business zone managed by TEXMAS since 2006. This initiative is designed to offer Uzbek exporters enhanced access to buyers, fortify distribution networks across the Gulf region, and create new avenues for showcasing their diverse textile and apparel offerings. Furthermore, TEXMAS has pledged to actively promote Uzbekistan textile products among its member companies and foster direct business-to-business connections.

Uzbekistan Textile Industry: Leveraging Strengths for Export Growth

Uzbekistan’s textile industry growth is driven by a comprehensive national strategy focused on modernization, attracting foreign investment, and strengthening the global presence of the “Made in Uzbekistan” brand. The country has successfully transitioned from a raw cotton exporter to a producer of high-value-added textile products, fully processing its cotton harvest domestically. This transformation has not only bolstered export volumes but also generated substantial employment opportunities. With a robust production capacity encompassing cotton yarn, fabrics, and ready-made garments, Uzbekistan emphasizes quality, sustainability, and competitive pricing. The goal is to firmly establish Uzbekistan as a reliable and prominent supplier within the competitive Middle East market. Government plans for 2026–2027 include further measures to improve competitiveness, expand export capacity, and enhance the international market presence of domestic textile producers.

Collaborative Vision and Future Prospects for Industry Growth

The collaboration extends beyond market entry, with both parties exploring opportunities for producing textile and apparel products in Uzbekistan under UAE-based brands. To solidify this cooperation, online discussions between TEXMAS leadership and Uzbekistan’s Agency for the Development of Light Industry are slated for late June 2026. These talks will concentrate on practical steps to  expand trade, facilitate partnerships, and unlock new textile export opportunities in the Gulf region, signaling a promising trajectory for industry growth. Industry stakeholders view this agreement as a significant advancement in strengthening economic ties between Uzbekistan and the UAE, paving the way for enriched textile trade and investment.
