The Chamber of Apparel and Home Textile Industries, operating under the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI), has formalized an agreement with the Egyptian Industrial Exports Company to establish a permanent exhibition facility in Nairobi, Kenya. This strategic development is situated within the company’s existing logistics hub and is designed to facilitate a broader reach for Egyptian exports across various African markets.
Infrastructure and Regional Market Access
Under the terms of this new partnership, a 250-square-meter permanent showroom will be integrated into the Nairobi logistics center. This dedicated space will permit manufacturers within the apparel industry to display their products to regional buyers throughout the year. The facility aims to provide efficient access to customers in East Africa and neighboring territories, serving as a foundation for a significant export expansion across the continent.
According to official reporting from the State Information Service (SIS) of Egypt, the Egypt Kenya Trade Hub is a core component of a wider strategy to strengthen commercial ties and improve market accessibility for domestic manufacturers.
Export Targets and Logistics Integration
Mohamed Abdel Salam, Chairman of the Chamber of Apparel and Home Textile Industries, stated that the initiative is expected to assist companies in entering emerging markets. The Chamber anticipates that this presence will increase garment shipments to specific African countries by a minimum of 20%.
Mona Wahba, Managing Director of the Egyptian Industrial Exports Company, noted that the agreement encompasses more than just exhibition space. The Egypt Kenya Trade Hub will provide integrated logistics solutions, including shipping, insurance, and warehousing, to optimize the efficiency of African trade.
The broader Nairobi logistics center spans 20,000 square meters and is currently utilized by multiple sectors. It has been structured to simplify the complexities of regional distribution, providing Egyptian manufacturers with a stable platform for growth. By combining year-round product visibility with comprehensive logistical support, the agreement is set to solidify the presence of Egyptian exports in the region. This move reinforces the logistical framework necessary for sustainable African trade and provides the apparel industry with the tools required for successful export expansion.
