Re&Up Recycling Technologies, a specialized textile-to-textile recycling venture owned by the Sanko Group, has officially attained B Corp certification. This milestone confirms the company’s adherence to rigorous standards regarding social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. By balancing financial profit with positive impacts on employees and the planet, the firm solidifies its role in the global market.
Performance Standards and Sustainable Fibers Production
The company utilizes a specialized thermochemical process to produce sustainable fibers, specifically next-gen cotton and polyester chips. To qualify for B Corp certification, a business must score at least 80 points on the B Lab assessment. Re&Up achieved a score of 96.4, significantly higher than the median score of 50.9 for ordinary businesses. This evaluation covered governance, workers, community, environment, and customer stewardship.
Commitment to Circularity and Operational Transparency
Ebru Özküçük Güler, the Chief Sustainability Officer at Re&Up, stated that the certification reflects a commitment to building infrastructure where innovation and circularity operate in unison. She noted that it recognizes the transformation of textile waste into high-purity resources with a long-term vision and accountability. The Re&Up B Corp certification highlights the company’s focus on operational responsibility.
Headquartered in the Netherlands with two industrial-scale operations in Turkey, the company aims for a textile recycling capacity of 1 million metric tons by 2030. Currently, it provides 80,000 metric tons of sustainable fibers to major brands such as Puma and Only. The newly launched Fiber Club initiative is expected to expand this reach to more partners.
The 96.4 rating was granted under the previous B Lab model. This achievement comes as the industry scrutinizes how circularity and high-purity resources are measured across different business models. The Re&Up B Corp certification serves as a benchmark for the firm’s future growth. While other brands have faced questions regarding their environmental impact, Re&Up continues to focus on its technological approach to waste management.
